Public concern for a healthy environment is still growing. The current prominence of sustainable development, biodiversity and Agenda 21 is a response to this new consciousness.

Local authorities have already demonstrated their potential to bring about enormous improvements in nature conservation. It is now their responsibility to ensure that the momentum of good practice is maintained.

Local authorities are in a key position to act strategically and to translate local concern into action.

ALGE has been established to help Local Government with all aspects of nature conservation and can help provide pragmatic approaches to the concepts of biodiversity and sustainable development.
